Injuries to key players at RB Leipzig have been affecting the team's performance, according to club president Jutta Schmiedecker.
The club has confirmed that three of its most important defenders - Manuel Neuer, Robert Lewandowski and Timo Werner - will be out for several weeks with injuries.
Neuer, who is also one of the club's top goalscorers, has been ruled out for six to eight months, while Lewandowski, who has scored 15 goals in all competitions this season, has been sidelined for two to four weeks.
Werner, who has made 24 appearances for the club this term, has also suffered a knee ligament injury.
However, the club has also announced that defender Lucas Tomaszewski has sustained a calf muscle strain, which could mean he may miss the remainder of the season.
Schmiedecker added that the team is currently "in discussions" about a possible replacement for Werner, but it remains to be seen how long he will be out.
"We need to ensure that we have a strong defensive line and we want to get back on track as soon as possible," she said.
Meanwhile, RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann is confident that his side can bounce back from their recent struggles, despite the setbacks they've experienced.
"I'm really looking forward to the next few games, I think it's going to be a tough challenge, but I'm really excited about the potential for improvement," he said.
Despite the challenges facing the club, Nagelsmann believes that the team has the talent to turn things around and make a strong push for a place in Europe's top flight.
"It's not easy, but we're working hard every day to improve our chances," he said.
The club's other key player, midfielder Thomas Vermaelen, has also expressed confidence in his ability to overcome the setback.
"I'm ready to play, I'll be fine," he said.
The impact of injuries on RB Leipzig's performance is a worrying development, and the club's management must find a way to prevent further setbacks.
They should also look towards the future, considering the talent available in the youth academy and consider bringing in young talent to bolster the squad.
The club's fans and supporters should remain optimistic, as the team continues to work tirelessly towards achieving success.
